Who we are

Safari Outdoor Marketplace (“we”, “us”) is operated by Safari Outdoor, a South African outdoor retailer. This notice explains what personal information we collect on this website, how we use it, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

Information we collect

• Analytics data — page views, device type, approximate location, and interactions such as searches and listing views. Collected via Google Analytics 4 only after you consent using the cookie banner.
• Account data — if you sign in, we use your Firebase account (email, display name) to manage your session and favourites.
• Favourites— when you save a listing, your user ID is written to that listing’s favourites array so we can show it on your Favourites page.

We do not collect payment details, ID numbers, or any special personal information on this website.

How we use it

• To operate and improve the marketplace
• To understand which listings and categories are popular
• To let you save and retrieve favourite listings
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse

Cookies and consent

We use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2. Until you click “Accept All” on our cookie banner, analytics storage is set to denied and no analytics cookies are written. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Who we share it with

We share limited data with these processors, all of whom are contractually bound to keep your information secure:

• Google (Firebase, Google Analytics) — hosting and analytics
• Algolia — search indexing

We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to how it is processed. If you are not satisfied with our response you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
